According to RollingStone, Wyoming native Luke Bell “plays classic honky-tonk with a wink and a yodel that summons the sleeping ghosts of country better than any voodoo spell ever could.”
Nashville’s The Farmer & Adele bring country-western cowboy swing and high lonesome together in a way that hearkens back to the heyday of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers.
Hosted by Kris Truelsen and featuring live advertisements written by house band Bill & the Belles, the program also features the Appalachian Sustainable Development Farm Report with Corbin Hayslett, an heirloom recipe segment that’s more storytelling than instruction, and much more.

Moonsville Collective Share Singles from Upcoming EP

JAN,  2017 (Press Release)  -- In advance  of the release of their new EP, Moonsville Collective has shared  new singles with American Songwriter, The Bluegrass Situation & Hear Ya.  Moonsville I,  out  Jan. 13, is the first installment in the Americana/indie-folk outfit's upcoming four-EP series, which will ultimately showcase 20 new songs throughout 2017.

Listen to "Alright by Me",
"Always Enough" and  "America"  HERE

Moonsville Collective—named after a home in the sky—is a band that writes songs trimmed from the fat of the American experience. During a time of high saturation and modern pace, the band draws from a slower and simpler time with the belief that good songs can still speak, move and save.

As young ramblers from the suburbs of Los Angeles, they began their musical formation by taking refuge in Central California and sitting in on jug band and old-time music circles where an infectious and pure spirit of music for music’s sake lived. Injecting that same spirit into their own community became their quest. Moonsville started as a collective, a group for musicians to come and go while fine-tuning their chops. They cheerfully—and often drunkenly—sang their voices hoarse at homegrown hootenannies and local bars that had never heard covers of "C.C. Rider" and "Goodnight Irene."

VIDEO PREMIERE: Beth Beighey "Just Another Heartache"

Nashville recording artist Beth Beighey recently released her debut single, “Just Another Heartache," a self-penned ballad that portrays both the deep emotion one experiences and strength one finds after the dissolution of a relationship. Beighey kindly took the time to speak about her roots, the song, and its video, her first ever, which The Daily Country is proud to premiere below.

“Just Another Heartache” is your debut single, yet you have been pursuing music for quite some time.
My mom was a singer-songwriter so I think music was in my blood. My first time on stage was at a talent show when I was five years old and when I was ten or eleven, I knew music was what I wanted to do. I started writing poetry at eleven or twelve, but didn’t pick up the guitar until I was in my 20’s, even though we had instruments in the house. After high school, I moved to Florida and studied music at Gulf Coast State College where I dual majored in vocal performance and record production technology. After spending years honing my craft, I eventually started playing shows from Florida to Michigan, where I’m originally from, and places in between. I kept stopping in Nashville and finally said I just need to be there - and that was four and a half years ago, now.

Nashville, TN (Press Release) – Celebrated, Grammy Award-winning band The Mavericks, have announced the March 31 release of  Brand New Day, their first independent studio album on their own label Mono Mundo Recordings/Thirty Tigers. After years on major labels, The Mavericks chose to set a new course with the founding of Mono Mundo and the release of their first live album, 2016’s captivating  All Night Live, Volume 1. On the spectacular  Brand New Day, the beloved veteran band convincingly proves that they may have not even reached their apex yet. Hear theRolling Stone Country  premiere of title track  HERE.

The 10 songs that make up Brand New Day feature The Mavericks genre-defying style. Case in point, the album opens with the tejano/bluegrass-inspired “Rolling Along”, which sets a tone before the wall-of-sound power of the title track thrusts the listener deep into the musical journey. From the ‘60’s flavored “Easy As It Seems” to the accordion-fueled shuffle of “I Will Be Yours” to the heart-melting beauty of “Goodnight Waltz”, Brand New Dayfinds the eclectic unit as inspired, passionate and commanding as ever.

Blank Range Premiere Video for "Circumstances"

Late last year, the Nashville-based five-piece Blank Range released their sophomore EP titled Vista Bent. Next month, the band will hit the road with  The Wild Reeds   for a string of dates on the west coast and throughout the south. But before they do, they recently premiered their first official music video for their song "Circumstances."  Watch HERE.

"This video started when our friend Kyle came along on a run to Savannah, GA and brought his Hi8 camcorder he grew up shooting skate videos on," explains  Jonathan Childers. "We loved the quality of the candid footage he was getting and we loved having him along for the ride. Over the next year, he joined us whenever he could and ended up traveling as far as California, and then to Florida with the camcorder in tow. It just so happened he was in the studio filming on the day we recorded 'Circumstances.' When we looked back over the footage, we thought it formed a perfect companion to this song about a relationship growing distant as both parties' lives churned on. Also, we had a shot of San Francisco to use when I say 'California' and I thought that was pretty cool."

Stream the EP in its entirety via  Spotify    and purchase on  iTunes    and  Bandcamp.

Gig Alert: Otis Taylor at the Iridium February 19th and 20th

Picture
Following his 2015 psychedelic masterpiece  Hey Joe Opus/Red Meat, the new album from visionary roots music songwriter and bandleader  Otis Taylor,   Fantasizing About Being Black,   is a stark and poetic lesson on the historical trauma of the African American experience, from the voyages of slave ships to the Mississippi Delta. Taylor simultaneously travels back in time while moving forward as a musical artist. Blending his unique songwriting and the compelling musical approach that he calls “trance blues,” the recording — on Taylor’s  Trance Blues Festival  label — inspires with stories of the enduring human spirit, letting its hypnotic sound as well as Taylor’s lyrics tell a story of continuing struggle. The album hits the streets  February 17, 2017  and to celebrate its release, Taylor will be playing two NYC shows. Details below.

Sun. &  Mon., Feb. 19 & 20
Iridium

1650 Broadway, NYC
Showtime:  8 p.m.
Tickets: $25-$30
