Celebrated tunesmith plans tour stops in several major market venues including Alexandria (The Birchmere), Philadelphia (World Cafe Live),  NYC (City Winery)

AUSTIN, Texas — James McMurtry’s forthcoming solo East Coast Stateside Solo Tour launches at the Millennium Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. and routes throughout the region before concluding at Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, Mass. on April 6. Major markets on this run include shows at legendary listening rooms the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia; World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and New York City’s City Winery. “Nothing makes you miss Waffle House like a couple of weeks in Europe,” says McMurtry, who has been touring abroad recently. “The term ‘Continental Breakfast’ is an oxymoron. And I haven't heard Spanish in nearly a month. I sure miss the States.”

The famously political songwriter has been keeping a close eye on the troubled Trump administration from across the pond while touring overseas. “A few years back, I put out a song called ‘Cheney’s Toy,’” McMurtry explains. “It was often misinterpreted due to a reference to an unknown soldier. People thought I was calling the soldier ‘Cheney’s Toy’ when I actually was referring to then-President  George W. Bush. It seemed to me that  Cheney  was the puppeteer in that administration, while Bush was the puppet, the toy. At several shows during my current tour of the U.K .and Europe, people have called out for me to sing ‘Bannon's Toy.’”

BROWN COUNTY, Ind. (Press Release)— Rev. Peyton, known for his viral shotgun guitar video and virtuosic slide guitar, is back! This time Rev literally sets his best friend on fire, and all hell breaks loose behind  Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band   as they perform “We Deserve a Happy Ending” on their own front porch in the new video from the upcoming  March 10, 2017  album   release  Front Porch Sessions.

"We researched these dangerous Hollywood-style stunts and my best friend, Jim Connor,   volunteered to let me set him on fire inside my house,” says Rev. Peyton. All of these people, animals, and machinery were all packed inside of Rev. and Breezy’s tiny cabin in the Brown County Hills. “These folks are just our friends and family,” Rev. Peyton says. “We are lucky to be surrounded by hillbillies, performers, artists, daredevils, and adventurers.” With almost no budget, this video is one continuous camera shot and was captured by Rev’s good pal and photographer Tyler Zoller in one   take. It’s all DIY, but all the proper precautions were taken. Rev. urges people not to try this at home, especially if you live in a wood house.

Washboard Breezy,  Rev. Peyton’s wife and band member, says, “The song is stripped down,  Maxwell Senteney   plays a suitcase just like on the record, but it sounds huge.” “It’s all about the vocals,” Rev. Peyton adds. “Max and Breezy make the song for me.”

From livestock to Harley motorcycles, from live shootouts to a man fully engulfed in flames, this video has it all!

Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band is:
Rev. Peyton - guitar, vocals
Washboard Breezy Peyton - washboard, tambourine, snaps, claps and vocals
Maxwell Senteney - percussion, suitcases, buckets and vocals

Produced and directed by Rev. Peyton
Videography and editing: Tyler Zoller
Production Manager: Jayme Hood

HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM STONED ON THE ONE FEATURES GUESTS SPOTS FROM LEGENDARY BELLAMY BROTHERS AND CONTRIBUTIONS FROM LARRY GATLIN AND JAMES OTTO

(Press Release) American singer/songwriter and Alabama native Andrew Pope will follow his highly acclaimed 2016 single, Stormchaser, with a new full-length album, Stoned on the One, on May 5 via Alacob Music. Recorded primarily at the legendary Sound Kitchen in Franklin, TN and produced by Pope, Stoned on the One was written as a concept album following a man that is dealing with a breakup and searching for closure. Pope's songwriting depth is showcased on each of the 13 tracks. “Most of these songs came about during difficult times of my life,” Pope shares. “Sometimes when you are dealing with sh*t and searching for answers, a song is born. That’s how this record was molded and it ain't no love song record."

Phase shifters and steel guitars echo throughout the album while Mickey Raphael offers a distant harmonica that occasionally passes by and swirls around Pope’s hypnotizing vocals on the heartbreaking “Even Ramblers Get The Blues” and woeful “Runnin’ After Rainbows.” Yet the honky tonk singer displays his unapologetic attitude on the rowdy opener “Stoned on the One.”

Angaleena Presley Delivers 'Wrangled' April 21

Album Features Songs Co-Written With Chris Stapleton,
Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, Wanda Jackson and Guy Clark

(Press Release) Angaleena Presley  follows her critically acclaimed 2015 debut, American Middle Class, with the 12-track Wrangled,  April 21 on Mining Light/Thirty Tigers. Angaleena’s “ambitious and riveting” songwriting (Wall Street Journal) punches through each of the co-written tracks. Once again she took a lead chair at the studio’s board, co-producing with Oran Thornton (Eric Church, David Nail) and recording close to home at famed “Ronnie’s Place” in Nashville.

"Wrangled is an explicitly forthright journey through my experience in the business of Country Music. I tried to tackle uncomfortable realities like the discrimination against female artists at the height of Bro-Country, the high school mentality of Music Row and the pain that's just beneath the surface of the road to stardom,” says Angaleena.

“Covered in elbow grease and sacrifice, I set out to shed the skin of my ‘dream’ Nashville by painting a musical picture of loss, surrender, resurrection, redemption, and connection with real people who make and support honest music."

Danny Barnes Releases All Acoustic Homage to Don Stover, STOVE UP, on March 3

2/16/2017

Picture
ASHEVILLE, NC  --  (Press Release)  Danny Barnes    is already known as an iconic American musician, a banjo playing innovator who’s earned high praise from everybody from Bill Frisell and Dave Matthews to Steve Martin, who presented Danny with the Prize for Excellence in Banjo in 2015. From the days with his groundbreaking Austin band, the Bad Livers, to his two decade solo career experimenting with electronic music, jazz, old time string band music and more, he’s a genre bending, rule breaking original who prefers to color outside the lines.

Now, with  Stove Up, out  March 3, 2017, he’s showing us that it was always a choice, that he’s always had the chops to play straight ahead bluegrass banjo with the best of them. With a top-flight band backing him up, Danny turns in an amazing set of tunes that demonstrate his respect for tradition and his commitment to his own musical voice.

“Happily, with Stove Up, our five-string hero steps out of the lab and into the sunlight where his pre-war Gibson can really shine,” says Tim O'Brien. “Producer and guitarist Nick Forster  wisely loosens the reins and lets his pack of thoroughbreds set a fast pace around the bluegrass track.  Mandolinist Chris Henry, with his bone-dry tone and expanded traditional approach, is a particularly inspired foil to Barnes. Along with Forster, much decorated fiddler Jason Carter,  and everyone’s favorite  bassist, Mike Bub, they cut through some beautiful territory, including  two Don Stover’s compositions—”Black Diamond” and “Rockwood Deer Chase.” Three vocal tracks  peek through the instrumentals and give new listeners a look into the quirky mind of Barnes… These are live and lively performances where you can almost hear the musicians smile.”

Joe Goodkin's 'Record of Loss' Available Now

2/16/2017

Picture
From Joe Goodkin--"It may be self-evident from the title, but Record of Loss is essentially a set of elegies: remembrances of people no longer with me and us. It is full of the sorrow of loss, but also the hope that comes from confronting loss. It is the most vulnerable music I've ever put out into the world and though a challenging, disconcerting, and even disturbing listen, I'm incredibly proud of it. Record of Loss' predecessor, Record of Life, starts with the song Dog and Cat, which has lyrics that serve as a self-imposed challenge: "I'm going to pour everything into this record of my life/every pain and every fear and every loss/and all the things that I held back and all the things that I left out/and maybe that will finally finally quell the doubt."

Record of Loss is the full realization of this challenge. What follows (and will be released this summer) is Record of Love: the fruits of getting through the darkness of Record of Loss.

I owe an incredible debt to the people who gave me permission to tell their stories of loss as part of mine. It was an honor to be trusted with these stories and I hope I did them some justice. The people about whom I sing are among the strongest that I know and are an inspiration to me. The act of writing and singing someone's story is humbling to say the least.
