Charlottesville, VA (Press Release) -- The Festy Experience  is excited to announce the first half of its music lineup for the 8th annual festival, happening   October 5-8, 2017   in the Blue Ridge Bowl at  Infinity Downs Farm    in Arrington, Virginia. The lineup comprises a carefully curated blend of national and local roots music acts, featuring The Infamous Stringdusters, Drive-By Truckers, Sam Bush Band, The Travelin' McCourys, The Jerry Douglas Band, Cabinet, Billy Strings, Love Canon, Carl Anderson, and The 8th Annual Garrettgrass Gospel Hour. And this is just half of the artist lineup. The next installment of artists will be announced on Wednesday, June 14th.  Tickets are  on-sale now.

The Festy Experience came about as an idea between  Virginia-native Michael Allen by   and  The Infamous Stringdusters   in 2009. Allenby’s Charlottesville-based company, The Artist Farm, was working with the band at the time in management. They got to talking and wanted to organize an event that grew out of the band’s shared experiences with fans over the years on the road. Music was a focus, but it was always more than music to them. Some had started raising families and community has always been at the heart of their involvement in the festival scene.

Throughout the event's seven-year history, The Festy Experience team has worked hard to produce a festival experience that illustrates its core values: a love of  craft food & beer   (they will be offering a variety of Virginia's award winning craft beer), appreciation for the outdoors, and stellar music. A family-friendly atmosphere is key; along with a family camping area, there will be a large kids area, a teen zone, special programming, a kids instrument making workshop, as well as other family activities.

(Nashville, Tenn. - May 16, 2017 Press Release) – Singer/Songwriter  Amber Hayes  is releasing new music and marking a return to her small town, Southern roots, with latest single, “My Hometown,” to release on  May 19. The pride and smile that comes across your face, when reflecting on where you grew up, “Hometown” achieves this heartwarming feeling expanding beyond a physical destination.

“I was raised in a very small town in Oklahoma and that was a big inspiration behind this song, and honestly a bunch of the songs that I write,” comments  Hayes, “This song in particular focused on the reasons why you'd never want to leave your hometown, and why you'd end up returning to your roots or returning to your hometown eventually.”

Amber Hayes penned the song with  Bill DiLuigi  and  JP Williams years ago. It wasn’t until after she was selected for the new HGTV series, Home Town, in which the hosts, husband-and-wife team, Ben and Erin, did a complete overhaul and renovation on Hayes newly purchased home in Laurel, Mississippi that Hayes brought the song to life and recorded the track. Reflecting the purpose behind the show, “My Hometown” is featured during Hayes’ episode, airing on  HGTV  on  May 23.

Additionally, Amber Hayes will once again host her popular show, Sweet Sunday Singing with Amber Hayes and Friends   on  Sunday, June 11  at the  Listening Room, starting at  9 a.m.  Hayes, Jeff Bates, Williams Honor, and more are set to perform.

SANTA FE, Texas (May 16, 2017) – Houston-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization, Helping A Hero, presented a specially adapted home for local wounded hero, Sgt (Ret.) Daniel Cowart, on Saturday, May 13 in Santa Fe, Texas. Country icon Lee Greenwood and special guests officially presented the keys to Sgt Cowart and his family in honor of his sacrifices for our country.

May 13 was also Sergeant Cowart's 10th anniversary of his alive date where he lost his left leg to a suicide bomber in Iraq during his time serving in the War on Terror. In addition, Cowart suffered nerve damage to his right leg and hearing loss in both ears, which makes it more difficult for him to perform basic daily functions.

Having awarded over 100 homes in 22 states for wounded veterans, Helping A Hero partnered with Keystone Concrete to design a beautiful four bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home that is fully wheelchair accessible. It features wider doors and hallways, a roll-in shower, roll-under sink, and adapted toilet area to make daily life easier for Sergeant Cowart and his caretaker and wife, Sarah.

Acclaimed music writer/industry veteran John Lomax III announces today’s release of FOLK, marking the start of the Sesquicentennial birthday celebration of his grandfather, famed Texan folklorist, John Avery Lomax (Lomax Sr.). The unique album includes 16 solo a cappella performances, sung by Lomax III’s father, John Avery Lomax Jr. The CD illustrates the recordings gathered during multiple expeditions from 1908-1947, by John Avery Lomax and his son, Alan. In addition, The University of Texas Press will reissue Lomax Sr.’s account of these early recording trips in his 1947 autobiography,  Adventures of a Ballad Hunter.   The tenacious ballad seekers crisscrossed 35 states, recording 5,500 stories, cowboy melodies, children’s tunes, Appalachian ballads, prison laments, work songs and lullabies.

"The songs my father sings on FOLK   are part of the soundtrack of my life,” says Lomax III. “He learned them from his father who learned them during a life of song-catching. Now you can enjoy these vivid slices of our shared American heritage."
