Jeff Crosby Releases New Song, "I'm Not Ready"

With Summer upon us, Jeff Crosby recently announced a slew of summer dates with stops in Montana, Idaho, Utah and more. In addition to the dates, he released a new song, "I'm Not Ready." Read what he had to say about it:

"This is a song I wrote getting out of the hospital after suffering a minor heart attack. I'd never really spent any time in a hospital and being in the ICU for a couple days really does change your perspective. How fragile this whole thing is. How fast everything can change. Trying to keep my sanity in what felt like a some sort of warzone, I ended up resorting to the only thing I've ever known to cope with these types of experiences. I started writing songs about it. This is the 1st one from that batch. Features my good friend Ben Waligoske on pedal Steel. Hope you enjoy."

Listen to and purchase the track on Bandcamp.

Nashville, Tenn. (June 22, 2016) - Weightless, the new album from acclaimed singer/songwriter Liz Longley, will be released on August 26th via Sugar Hill Records. The winning transformation of her songwriting from the personal into the universal plays brilliantly on Weightless, the highly anticipated follow-up to Longley’s eponymous 2015 Sugar Hill Records debut, which earned accolades from critics, who proclaimed the album “a thing of beauty,” (Popdose), and praised her “captivating stories set to tunes that will be running through your head after a single spin.” (American Songwriter)

Longley recorded the 10-song collection in Nashville with Bill Reynolds (Band of Horses, Avett Brothers, Lissie), and she is joined by a vibrant group of musicians including Secret Someones’ drummer Zach Jones, Jimmy Wallace on piano (Gavin DeGraw, Kenny Wayne Shepherd), Dave Roe (Dan Auerbach, Sturgill Simpson) on bass, and the esteemed Kenny Vaughan (Lucinda Williams, Rodney Crowell) on guitar. Weightless luxuriates in bold pop with rock-and-roll edges. Crunchy, percussive guitars cushion the defiant songbird melodies Longley uses to deliver bittersweet lyrical punches that explore the complexities of relationships, rather than the fairy tale.

Musician, writer, producer, and activist Erin McKeown will release a surprise EP this Friday, June 24th titled According To Us via her own label TVP Records. As an artist known for defying form and genre, the new 6 song collection adds another chapter to her unique body of work and fits right into her modus operandi: clear, challenging, and unexpected. Stereogum premiered today her new track "Sugar In A Pie" and stated, "The tension between the jubilant aesthetic of the song and the subtle fierceness of her hopes and wishes is wonderful."

Listen to "Sugar In A Pie" here:

"This song celebrates the sweetness and trap of love," stated McKeown. "'A moment on the lips, an eternity on the hips,' as they say. Yet somehow, just like sugar, we cannot stay away from love. I also think it would make a tremendous car or detergent commercial."

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to host concert and screening
set for July 9 in Cleveland

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Press Release) “There is a special connection between American folk music and the railroad that has no parallel elsewhere in the world. Rail lines stitch together the sprawling fabric of American song. As writers of Americana music, our goal is to draw on the deep, recurring sources of American folk culture, giving them new shape,” explains the Grahams’ Alyssa Graham in “Rattle the Hocks,” a music documentary to be released in digital format.

The short film, directed and produced by Cody Dickinson (founding member of the North Mississippi Allstars and son of the late legendary producer Jim Dickinson), captures the Grahams’ relentless journey to explore the relationship between train travel and American roots music. However, what is inadvertently captured is a husband and wife living their American dream.
