(Press Release) Multi-Grammy Award winning troubadour Rodney Crowell will be honored by ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, with its prestigious ASCAP Founders Award at the 55th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards on November 6, 2017. The Founders Award is one of ASCAP’s highest honors and is presented to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators. Previous recipients include George Strait, Alan Jackson, Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Garth Brooks, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Neil Young.

Crowell’s new album Close Ties released March 31st of this year and has gained considerable critical acclaim with NPR Music stating “There’s no doubt that Crowell was an architect of Americana as we know it, and with Close Ties, we’re fortunate to have a look at his blueprints.” The Wall Street Journal raved, “[Close Ties] proves energizing, engaging and often fascinating;” and the Associated Press added, “...the set ranks among his best.” The Los Angeles Times called it “exceptional,” while No Depression noted, “Whether he’ll accept it or not, [Crowell has] now assumed the mantle of the late Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt, two poets who could zero in on our emotions by telling wry, straight-as-an-arrow stories about the desiccated desolation of the failures or triumphs of relationships, or the battered denizens of small towns searching for truth, comfort, love, or refuge in their own halting ways.”

Ruby Boots Announces 'Don't Talk About It'; Watch "It's So Cruel"

On February 9, 2018 Ruby Boots will release her Bloodshot Records debut album Don't Talk About It. The release follows her 2014 album Solitude, and features contributions from Nikki Lane as co-writer/on background vocals, The Texas Gentlemen as backing band, and producer Beau Bedford.

Pre-order link: https://fanlink.to/rubybootsbs

Don’t Talk About It is informed as much by the wide-open landscapes of her Australian homeland as the intimate writing circles of her current place of residence in Nashville. Echoes of first wave UK power pop and jangly punk intersect with the every(wo)man indie and pop-inflected muscle of Best Coast. Classic rock touchstones from T. Rex to the girl group-Wall of Sound to personal hero Tom Petty meld with a weary poet’s eye recalling Hope Sandoval.

Don't Talk About It track listing:
“It’s So Cruel”
“Believe in Heaven”
“Don’t Talk About It”
“Easy Way Out”
“Break My Heart Twice”
“I’ll Make It Through”
“Somebody Else”
“I Am a Woman”
“Infatuation”
“Don’t Give a Damn”

Randy Rogers Band Notches Fourth #1 off 'Nothing Shines Like Neon' with "Meet Me Tonight"

Hard-touring six-piece Randy Rogers Band just jumped four spots up the Texas Regional Radio charts this week with "Meet Me Tonight," making it the fourth number one off the band's Billboard Top 5 Country Album 'Nothing Shines Like Neon.'
This marks yet another milestone in a year that has seen multiple number one singles and stops at festivals including Stagecoach, Faster Horses and Windy City Smokeout, as well as solo performances from Rogers at Red Rocks with Miranda Lambert and a 10th Anniversary 'Hold My Beer and Watch This' tour with fellow Texan Wade Bowen.

In addition to music and touring, Rogers and his bandmates have recently focused heavily on humanitarian efforts. This year, the 9th Annual RRB Charity Golf Jam raised more than $100,000 for MusiCares and Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), the band is contributing touring proceeds to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, and they have performed to raise funds for pediatric care specialists.

The "fine, no-glitz, knowing hard-country outing" (Wall Street Journal) is currently back in the studio -- this time recording with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dave Cobb. Expect to hear new music at a handful of upcoming full-band stops in Austin, Vegas and Ft. Worth.

Rogers also announced a limited acoustic "Tall Tales & The Truth Tour"with friends Kip Moore and Wade Bowen, capping off the musician and businessman's 200+ show year with stops in Denver, Lincoln, D.C., and New York City.

Will Hoge announces U.S. tour dates in support of 'Anchors'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Press Release) —  Will Hoge is a creative gambler. He left the comfort of touring with his band because he hit a wall and needed to figure out his next move. The CMA- and Grammy-nominated artist took to the road for a year of solo shows with a guitar and keyboard and in so doing, reclaimed what inspired his soul.

That journey resulted in his current release, Anchors (out August 11 via Thirty Tigers).

Hoge will tour the U.S. in November and December, traveling through Texas, Arizona, California, up through the Pacific Northwest and into the Midwest. A full itinerary appears below.

THE LOST BROTHERS 'Halfway Towards A Healing' due January 26th

Picture
'The Lost Brothers harmonies are to die for, as near as a duo have got to the mastery of The Everlys and The Louvin Brothers' tender close harmony singing that I've heard anywhere near these shores." Richard Hawley

(Press Release) There is something special about two musicians in unison. Solo artists bear the brunt of pretty much everything – be it success or failure, joy or misery, it is all on their shoulders. Groups, meanwhile, are mostly perceived as ideal examples of democracy, when the reality is that they are governed by a benign dictator (if lucky) or a cruel despot (if not). Duos, on the other hand, are clearly in tune (and harmony) with themselves and each other.

As if proof were needed, take Oisin Leech and Mark McCausland as the perfect example. Having had previous lives in major label rock acts (respectively, The 747s and The Basement), the two Irish songwriters and musicians first met in 2007 after their bands had slowly slipped off the radar. “We both found ourselves at house parties in Liverpool,” recalls Oisin, “and discovered that we had the same musical tastes. We started writing songs together for fun – no strategies, no game plan.”

The musicians’ instinctive gravitational pull presented them with the ‘Lost Brothers’ tag, but the name quickly stuck. Indeed, as the songs began to develop, the name started to make even more sense: the music was knocking on doors looking for a home, while the delivery of the songs was hushed to the point where you had to listen very carefully for the beauty of (and melancholy in) them.

The past ten years of The Lost Brothers has disappeared in the blink of an eyelid. Their 2008 debut album, Trails Of The Lonely, was produced in Portland, Oregon, by Mike Coykendall.(collaborations include M Ward, She & Him, Richmond Fontaine, Beth Orton, Bright Eyes), Coykendall set The Lost Brothers on their singular path.

Pianist/Guitarist Hans Chew Unveils "Open Sea", out 12/1

10/25/2017

Picture
(Press Release) Hans Chew has travelled a long way from Tennessee to Georgia to New Orleans to East Harlem, and sang many songs along his journey. But what happens when a ramblin’ man stops moving? Chew’s 4th studio album, Open Sea, represents a satisfying evolution in Hans’s brand of piano-based Americana, R&B and rock & roll. While his past work was consumed with themes of searching and longing, this album brings to the surface different questions about being a man: equanimity in chaos, permanence of choices, the meaning of work. To paraphrase a Gary Snyder poem, it’s about finding your piece of land and working it. It’s not about settling, but it is about settling in. UK indie label At The Helm Records will release it on December 1st and Chew will hit the road in support (dates below). Once known for his work with American primitive Jack Rose and Hiss Golden Messenger among many others, with his solo albums, he stakes his claim as an artist evolving in myriad ways.

Hans plays guitar himself on Open Sea, along with his usual rollicking piano and bluesy R&B vocalizing. Tapping the rhythm section of the band Rhyton, with Rob Smith on drums and Jimy SeiTang on bass, along with his long- time collaborator Dave Cavallo on guitar, Hans finds his most agile and sensitive band yet, stretching songs to longer lengths, with confident exploration and roaring jams.

MARK "PORKCHOP" HOLDER'S Solo Album, 'Death and the Blues', due November 3rd

10/24/2017

Picture
(Press Release) Mark “Porkchop” Holder originally turned the blues on its head more than a decade ago as a founding member of punk/blues band Black Diamond Heavies. While he’s been tearing up juke joints, festivals and dive bars since then with his own fiery brand of the blues, it wasn’t until earlier this year that the Tennessee musician released his own debut solo album, Let It Slide, an acclaimed effort that No Depression described as, “...fire in a barrel. If the Rolling Stones camped with Howlin’ Wolf and Billy Gibbons on trucker speed for the weekend with a fuzz pedal, this would be its precious procreation.”

Now just nine months later, the guitar-slinging, harp-shredding bluesman is releasing his follow-up album, Death and the Blues. On it, Holder, along with Travis Kilgore (bass) and Doug Bales (drums), builds on the success of his previous album with eight newly penned tracks, along with three rousing covers (a stripped-down acoustic Delta-blues re-rendition of Don Nix’s “Nobody Wants To Cry,” Jr Kimbrough’s “Sad and Lonely Nights” and the traditional song “Billy the Kid,” originally recorded by Marty Robbins).

Despite the fact that this was recorded in the same studio as their last album (Tiny Buzz in Chattanooga, TN) and by the same line-up, the results are much heavier and tighter on this affair, with Holder’s inventive slide guitar-work snarling and baring teeth over the rock-solid rhythms from Kilgore and Bales. “The philosophy of recording this album,” Holder explains, “was to document the increased live dynamic of a band that has now played a couple of hundred shows together. It's a power trio record.”
