(Press Release) London based independent label
Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, Against Me!), in partnership with  Kay Bank Recording, and Milwaukee-based singer-songwriter  Trapper Schoepp  are pleased to announce the  Friday, June 2  release of  Bay Beach Amusement Park (pre-order at iTunes, Xtra Mile), a six-song concept EP centered around the 125-year-old attraction located in Green Bay, WI on the shores of Lake Michigan. Produced by 18-year-old Minnesotan  Eliot Skinner  and recorded mostly live over a weekend at Pachyderm Studios, Bay Beach Amusement Park  serves as Schoepp’s creative and wildly fun follow-up to  Rangers & Valentines, an album   Relix  declared a “mini masterpiece” and named one of  Billboard’s “Best of the Week.”

Perhaps the park’s most historic and notable attraction is The Zippin Pippin, a wooden rollercoaster known famously as  Elvis Presley’s favorite ride. The King rented Libertyland on August 8, 1977 from 1:15 a.m. until 7 a.m. to entertain a group of guests. Decked in a blue jumpsuit with a black leather belt, huge belt buckle with turquoise studs and gold chains, the King rode the Pippin repeatedly during a two-hour period. Presley’s late night joyride was his last public appearance. He passed away eight days later.

40 years on, Schoepp celebrates the Pippin and the other classic rides with these six songs that take the listener on six different adventures, each song named for its respective ride (“Zippin Pippin,” “Bumper Cars,” “The Scat”). This musical joyride is suitable entertainment for both adults and children. “Come mothers, daughters, fathers and sons/You’ll feel a lot better after you’re done,” Schoepp sings in the first single “Bumper Cars,” where pop culture rivalries such as Jerry Seinfeld and Newman and the Jedi and Sith collide on the ride.

Nashville, TN (April 19, 2017 Press Release) -- Mike Aiken's  new video, "Virginia,"  features a unique and personal view of the Commonwealth this singer/songwriter calls home.  "Virginia"  is the latest single from Aiken's critically-acclaimed sixth studio album,  CAPTAINS & COWBOYS, released on Northwind Records.

"This should be our state song."
-Paul Shugrue, NPR - WHRV, Norfolk, VA

With the warmth of Lightfoot, the earthiness of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and the unerring timing of Billy Joe Shaver, Aiken's vocals are uninhibited on the self-penned, sweetly vibrant "Virginia."   "It's a love affair," Aiken admits.  "This is my home and a special place to me.  She's beautiful, but just beneath the surface lies the story of a troubled past.  Look a little deeper and you can see and feel the pain of the Civil War's blue and gray; black and white.  It's part of what makes Virginia what she is.  It always sets my soul free to get back home," Mike adds.

Bern Kelly Announces 'Lost Films' LP, Listen to New Single, "Unsold"

April 19, 2017  (Press Release)-- Nashville singer/songwriter  Bern Kelly has announced the release of his upcoming LP,  Lost FIlms, produced by Patrick Damphier (The Arcs, Tim Easton, The Mynabirds).  Along with the announcement, Kelly shared his new single "Unsold" with Glide Magazine who wrote, "Reflecting Ryan Adams’ knack of building a rock future with a foundation in the past. Kelly sings with a gallop in his delivery that is both righteous and fervently emotive, while his rock rhythms are pure magnetic." Lost Films   comes   out on  June 23  via Underpass Records.

If there’s one constant rule in Nashville, where musical trends come and go each year, it’s that there’s nothing more important than the song. That’s the guiding principle of Bern Kelly’s new album, Lost Films, a record that deploys a sweeping array of styles, from power-pop to plaintive folk & reverb-washed Americana, all in service of that eternal truism: The song comes first.

Recorded with an array of the town’s brightest studio pros, including producer Patrick Damphier (The Arcs, Tim Easton, The Mynabirds), steel-guitar legend Russ Pahl (Dan Auerbach, Patty Griffin, Miranda Lambert), drummer Jon Radford (Steelism, Lily Hiatt, Leigh Nash) and bassist Travis Vance, Kelly’s latest record is a community-minded effort, the result of his decade-long tenure as a singer/songwriter in Nashville.

Kelly’s influences come through loud and clear on Lost Films’ ten songs, from the gruff Josh Ritter & Bruce Springsteen-channeling album opener “Unsold” to his gorgeous country-folk duet with Thirty Tigers artist Elise Davis on “Garage Sale,” a tune that recalls Ryan Adams’ Whiskeytown-era duets with Caitlin Cary. It’s an eclectic album, shifting from swooping Marshall Crenshaw guitar hooks to Mark Kozelek-inspired gothic-noir sketches. Elsewhere, Kelly draws from Jeff Buckley and Elliott Smith—in particular, the dreamy, introspective ballad “Forever Alone”—and he stretches out on the exploratory “Madeline Street,” a meandering, seven-minute epic that Kelly considers one of the proudest moments of his recording career.

HEAR NOW! The  Observer  broke the story and premiered a song:  http://bit.ly/2on0AJn

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Press Release) — In a consistently colorful musical career that spans nearly four decades, Willie Nile has established a reputation as a world-class rock ’n’ roller, and as a singular songwriter with deep roots in rock’s rich history. So it’s not surprising that he’d choose to tip his hat to one of his most enduring musical inspirations with his eleventh studio album, Positively Bob: Willie Nile Sings Bob Dylan, a heartfelt, personally charged set of Dylan covers that honors its subject while exemplifying the same qualities that have distinguished Nile’s work since the beginning.

The album is set for  June 23, 2017  release on  River House Records.

“These songs opened up a lot of doors for me, and for a whole generation of kids,” Nile states. “Discovering Dylan’s songs in the ’60s was incredibly liberating; it made me realize that there were no limitations or walls that could not be scaled or knocked down. This is the Shakespeare of rock ’n’ roll we’re talkin’ about here.”

Streetlight Social Reveal New Single "Heart Of Glass"; New Album Blood From Stone Out May 5

4/19/2017

Picture
(Press Release) Streetlight Social will release their debut album  Blood From Stone  on  May 5.  PureVolume says, "Canadian folk rock outfit Streetlight Social have a sound that has a warmth that you'd expect to hear from a band located in a rural locale instead of a bustling city. Yet, the Toronto-based outfit's intricate beauty is on full display with their latest single, 'Heart of Glass.' Here, the delicate string plucking, enchanting melodies and introspective vocals evoke earnest imagery that's reminiscent of many of the indie folk bands that have risen to popularity in recent years."

About the song, "Heart of Glass," Streetlight Social's  Chris Millar says,  "This song may be about your insecurities in a new relationship, or the fear of getting hurt and hurting another, or even the denial experienced when you find out you may not be as strong as you once thought." He adds, "We have our own interpretations for sure, but we encourage our fans to listen and come to their own conclusions - what resonates most with them."

"Heart of Glass" is streaming via  SoundCloud.
