1. Randy's drink order at the bar?
Wade: First drink would be a beer to make himself feel good. Then would be a glass of wine. Then it would be a Tito's, soda, cranberry. No, no, no, it would be the wine first with lunch or breakfast, and then it would be a beer, Tito's, soda.

Wade: (laughs) K. I'll take that.
Randy: That's a tough one. That's a tough one.
Wade: You haven't done a Michael Jackson move in a while.
Randy: It's been a while.
Wade: No, no. I know Randy's would be beatboxing. Remember that night at that bar you just took the mic from behind that lady and (imitates Randy)?
Randy: No, not really (laughs).

3. Who has the higher IQ score?
Wade: Randy. I'm a .....
Randy: I would go with myself.

4. Who is the better golfer?
Randy: I've never beat Wade Bowen at golf. Not once.
Wade: Never will. Never will. If you beat me at golf, I'll stop.
(both laugh)
Randy: You're screwed.
Wade: Revenge on the tour. I can see it right now.

Luke Bell Premieres Self-Titled Thirty Tigers Debut with Southern Living, Album out Friday June 17

This Friday, June 17, the ranch hand turned troubadour Luke Bell will release a self-titled album via Thirty Tigers. Today, the album is premiering in its entirety with Southern Living, who said "Luke Bell has grabbed ahold of the throwback country dial and turned it all the way to 11 with his big, well-deep baritone and traditional arrangements that sound like they’ve been out all night at a honky tonk and haven’t bothered to clean up."

Prior to moving to Nashville-via-Austin-via-New Orleans, Bell, a fifth-generation descendent of Wyoming homesteaders, studied agroecology at the University of Wyoming and playing music in front of crowds of folkies at the Buckhorn Bar by night. When the music started crowding out the classwork on crop science, he dropped out right after turning 21 and headed to the bright lights of Austin.

“My life was kinda like a scene from Urban Cowboy at that point,” Bell recalls. “I was workin’ construction, sellin’ pizza coupons, shoein’ horses—whatever work I could find to pay the minimum bills of the apartment I was livin’ in. Other than that, I was just screwin’ around and playin’ shows; I had a rock ’n’ roll band for a while. Mondaynights at the Hole in the Wall was a residency with Ramsey Midwood, Mike and the Moonpies and Leo Rondeau. I was enamored of that honky-tonk scene; they had dollar-fifty High Lifes—that didn’t hurt, either.”

Amanda Shires To Release 'My Piece Of Land' On September 16th

6/15/2016

PictureCourtesy: All Eyes Media
Nashville (Press Release) – Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter/violinist Amanda Shires will release her third album My Piece Of Land on September 16th.  My Piece Of Land represents an artistic milestone for Shires, inspired by a series of milestones and realizations in her personal life. Shires contemplates love, fear, stability, self-esteem, and even anxiety, which she beautifully articulates through her thoughtful lyrics and emotive vocals.

My Piece Of Land is the follow-up to Down Fell The Doves (2013) which garnered accolades from outlets including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Texas Monthly, Huffington Post and The Los Angeles Times who called it, “Emotionally dynamic...the beauty of her voice belying the menace of her message”.

Ms. Shires honed her chops playing fiddle with the Texas Playboys, and has since gone on to tour and record with artists including John Prine, Billy Joe Shaver, Todd Snider, Justin Townes Earle, and most recently her husband Jason Isbell.  My Piece Of Land was mostly written while she was seven months pregnant and unable to travel.  Ms. Shires used the time for self-reflection, and she used songwriting to soothe her growing anxiety.  The songs on My Piece Of Land are a very personal account of what she was going through at this point in her life.

While balancing touring with new motherhood, Ms. Shires has also been working towards a M.F.A. in creative writing from The University Of The South (Sewanee) over the past five years.  As part of her studies she has workshopped poems, 3-4 per week, a process through which she learned the value of editing, while strengthening her songwriting.  The themes on the new album range from questioning self-worth in “I Know What It’s Like”, the connection between two people in “Harmless” and most importantly finding sense of place in “You Are My Home”.  Ms. Shires also included the song “Mineral Wells” which speaks of her home state of Texas, and the part of us that always feels connected to where we’re from.  Amanda chose to record her album with award-winning producer Dave Cobb at his Low Country Sound studio, an easy decision as she’d worked with him previously on Jason Isbell’s latest two albums. My Piece Of Land is a true milestone in the creative arc of an artist who has found her voice and come into her own.  For more information visit amandashiresmusic.com
