LOS ANGELES, Calif. — To everything there is a season. For Paul Kelly, it’s time to get the electric guitar out of the case to create one of the most powerful albums of his career.

That’s Life Is Fine — due out in North America on Gawd Aggie/Cooking Vinyl via The Orchard on August 11, 2017 — in which Kelly fires up with a band of long-time musical friends, captures all the excitement of them playing live in the studio, and delivers a record that crackles with an energy that is reminiscent of his finest ’80s recordings.

Paul enjoys touring and in support of the new album, he will tour the continent with a full band — his first such North American tour in 13 years, since the Ways & Means album.

Rough Trade Brooklyn NYC

Brooklyn, NY, 11249
8 PM Doors, 9 PM Show
$12 adv, $15 door

The worn floor of an old honkytonk is not usually a place you’d think of as welcoming to bold new experimentation. If you’ve got something new to say, you’d better say it in the form of a brisk twostep that keeps the dancers moving. So it’s doubly impressive that Seattle country band Western Centuries is able to meld wildly disparate influences into an original honkytonk sound that won’t make dancers miss a step. Formed originally under the name Country Hammer by Americana songwriter Cahalen Morrison, known for his innovative work as an acoustic duo with Eli West, Western Centuries revolves around three principal songwriters–Morrison, Ethan Lawton, and Jim Miller–each with a totally different perspective.

Nashville, Tenn. (Press Release) – Razor-sharp rising star and Big Loud Records artist JILLIAN JACQUELINE has released the song and video for her defiant new track, “Bleachers,” a confident declaration which puts her unflinching Country creativity on blast.

Co-written by Jacqueline with Tofer Brown and Trent Dabbs, the song is now available across all digital platforms and highlights this emerging artist’s fully developed sense of self. Upbeat and carefree, “Bleachers” is a loud-and-proud anthem filled with marching beats and pep rally chants that celebrates individuality and staying true to who you are.

"I wanted to write something that felt like an anthem, a lighthearted ode to embracing individuality without sounding preachy,” Jacqueline explains. “When I wrote it, I felt like using the dynamics of high school as a way to describe life shows how the ideas and beliefs we sometimes learn young get carried into adulthood and can prevent us from embracing the contrasts that actually make the world so uniquely beautiful. It's the most fun to sing onstage."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Press Release) – Rarely do first takes on a song become the master tracks for an artist, but that’s how chart-topping history began for Crystal Gayle’s "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue." Now, four decades later, Gayle’s signature hit marks its 40th anniversary since its release on June 24, 1977.

"I did not re-sing it. It just fell into place beginning with Pig Robbins' opening work on the piano. It was magic in the studio that day,” Gayle said with a smile.

Admittedly, I did not know much about Ha Ha Tonka when I caught their show in Brooklyn a few weeks ago, but after seeing them for the first time, I walked away so musically enamored that I bought their entire catalog and haven't stopped playing them since. They're that good.

Fresh on the heels of their March release,
Heart-Shaped Mountain, the West Plains, Missouri based band made their late-night television debut on Conan last Thursday. The performance is of the album's first track, "Race to the Bottom". Watch and share the video.

The band is on tour - with more dates to be announced soon. Find tour dates and more HERE.

Alex Williams' Debut LP 'Better Than Myself' Due August 11

(Press Release) Stout, twangy guitar tones, honky-tonk pianos, and swirling pedal steel lay the framework for Alex Williams' debut album, 'Better Than Myself,' out August 11 on Big Machine Records. The 12-track blend of vintage country and southern rock reflects the Pendleton, Indiana, native's lived-in baritone that breathes genuine life and depth into his based-on-a-true-story brand of songwriting.

Big Machine Label Group's Julian Raymond -- a three-time GRAMMY-winning songwriter and producer known for his work with Jennifer Nettles, Justin Moore, Glen Campbell and Hank Williams Jr. -- assembled an all-star band encompassing some of Nashville's finest musicians: drummer Victor Indrizzo (Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris), keyboard player Matt Rollings (Lyle Lovett, Mark Knopfler), bassist Joeie Canaday (Leann Rimes, Steven Curtis Chapman), pedal steel player Dan Dugmore (James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt), and guitarists Tom Bukovac (Don Henley, Stevie Nicks) and J.T. Corenflos (Dolly Parton, Alan Jackson).

With Raymond at the helm as producer, Williams and the band recorded live on the studio floor and wrapped basic tracking in just two days. The result is a rollicking throwback chock full of wit and wisdom, colored throughout by Williams' fierce streak of independence. Album opener "Better Than Myself," which features harmonica legend and longtime Willie Nelson band member Mickey Raphael, sets the stage perfectly, as Williams sings, "Truth be told in every note I play / Truth be told I don't care what you say."
