AUSTIN, Texas (Press Release) — Highway Prayer: A Tribute to Adam Carroll, due October 28 on Austin-based Eight 30 Records, celebrates a true songwriter’s songwriter, a Texas tunesmith who has inspired both younger and older artists for nearly two decades. Carroll simply captures entire lifetimes in snapshots like few other songwriters (“Screen Door,” “Girl With the Dirty Hair”). “I try to find moments that are sublime,” he explains. “They just last a little bit and then you’re back to your regular life and strife, but there are just these perfect little moments.” Evidence: “Black Flag Blues,” “Red Bandana Blues,” “South of Town,” “Smoky Mountain Taxi” and dozens more.

Reckless Kelly Premiere "Who's Gonna Be Your Baby Now"

On September 23, Reckless Kelly will celebrate their 20th anniversay with the release of Sunset Motel, their first album with Thirty Tigers and the follow up to their Grammy Award winning 2013 release Long Night Moon.

Recently the band premiered a second song from the album, "Who's Gonna Be Your Baby Now." Listen to the track via Spotify above.

Sunset Motel is now available for pre-order and includes an instant downloads of "How Can You Love Him (You Don't Even Like Him)" and "Who's Gonna Be Your Baby Now."

Brothers Willy & Cody Braun along with founding member and drummerJay Nazz, moved to Austin in 1996 where they quickly carved out a niche of their own. Inspired by the outlaw country scene -- musicians like Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Billy Joe Shaver, Robert Earl Keen, Guy Clark, and others who helped redefine the notion of contemporary country -- they took an approach that reflected that unapologetic attitude, underscoring it with a gritty, hard-edged delivery that was as compelling as it was convincing.

"We came along in that second wave of the movement," Cody Braun notes. "Son Volt’s album Trace had a major effect on us. Our goal was to make music that had a country vibe but a solid rock edge. We were fortunate that artists like Joe Ely and Robert Earl Keen were big supporters early on."

Birdtalker Releases Debut EP, 'Just This'

August 19, 2016 (Nashville, TN Press Release) -- Nashville alternative group Birdtalker has released its debut EP, Just This, making the project available to purchase and stream at all digital stores. The Wild Honey Pie says that even when the band, "...delve[s] into more uncertain and strained subject matter, they’ll still remind you to 'put what’s heavy behind' and that we 'don’t need no mournful sounds.' Simply put, you feel lighter by the end of this EP than before you began listening."

A few months after marrying, the band’s founders Zack and Dani Green began writing songs together. Neither had pursued music before, however, after finishing their first song together, each felt an electric surge and from that point on there was no turning back. Friends in Nashville began to take notice of the duo’s original tracks, and Birdtalker quickly grew into a five-piece ensemble. Just This EP reflects different themes of adulthood, touching on the evolution of the pair’s marriage, to prioritizing what is most important in one’s life. The EP is lead by its first two singles, “Heavy” and “Graveclothes,” which have combined for over 1.25 million plays at Spotify since “Heavy” was released on June 24. The six-song EP was recorded in Nashville at Glass Onion Recording Studio with co-producers JD Tiner (Erin Rae) and Dan Fernandez (Great Peacock).

Birdtalker will hold a hometown release show at The High Watt in Nashville on 9/1. Opening the night is Great Peacock along with Austin Manuel.
