Austin quintet The Band of Heathens have announced new tour dates for fall 2016. In the course of evolving from loose assemblage to world-class rock ’n’ roll outfit, the Band of Heathens has built a potent body of recorded work that’s won the Austin, Texas ensemble a fiercely loyal fan base and a reputation as one of its hometown’s most vital musical resources. See below for a complete list of tour dates, which are now on sale as of today.

The Band of Heathens’ imposing reputation as a live act was reflected in their decision to launch their recording career with a pair of live albums, 2006’s Live From Momo’s and 2007’s CD/DVD Live at Antone’s. 2008 saw the release of the group's eponymous first studio album, produced by iconic Texas troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard.  That release won widespread fan approval and copious critical acclaim, as did 2009's One Foot in the Ether, which, like its predecessor, reached the #1 slot on the national Americana charts. The group's third studio album Top Hat Crown and the Clapmaster's Son was released in 2011, followed by 2013's Sunday Morning Record.

Stream: "Being Alone" at NPR All Songs Considered

(Press Release) Allen Tate of San Fermin is set to release his debut solo album on October 28th via Votiv Music. The album is available to pre-order digitally here. Today Allen has shared "Being Alone" from the forthcoming release with NPR's All Songs Considered. NPR's Bob Boilen says, "Musically, Tate's solo songs are simpler than the music of San Fermin; his attention is more lyrical than musical, though the textures and playing propel those words nicely here." About the song Allen told NPR, "It started out as a poem I wrote while I was watching swans swimming on The Lakes in Copenhagen. I started thinking about how hunters use mating calls to lure out their prey. So, to a swan or goose, the call of a lover and the call of a hunter might sound identical. What sounds like love just might be death, and there's only one way to know for sure. The chorus takes stock of how dark that train of thought was, and how three weeks alone in a foreign place had affected my thoughts in general." Allen Tate has an New York City show planned forSeptember 22 at POPSHOP at Baby's All Right. Ticket for the show can be purchased here.
